As structural engineers and technical consultants, we played a pivotal role in this ambitious project, designing a basement beneath the entire perimeter of the house, complete with Luxcrete ceiling lights to bring natural light into the space. Partnering with Assegai Design and Build, the project’s architect and builder, we engineered the structural elements, including a cranked beam to support a spacious new room in the loft, and provided technical oversight for an open-plan living and kitchen space featuring an impressive sliding door. We also managed the design and installation of a bespoke staircase, ensuring every detail was executed with precision.
This project was both challenging and rewarding, requiring innovative solutions and meticulous attention to detail. We designed a robust frame to support half the house, carefully calculating the maximum allowed deflection to ensure the massive glass panel sliding door in the open-plan area operated seamlessly. From the technical intricacies to the final touches, we delivered with precision. The result? A beautifully transformed home with a light-filled basement, a versatile loft room, a stunning open-plan living and kitchen space, and a striking bespoke staircase that elevates the entire design.
